In preparation for the Mayweather/Ortiz fight, I’ve been watching a few episodes of ”24/7 Mayweather/Ortiz” to brush up on how both of these fighters train, what’s their motivation and of course, for the smack talk about each other. But the thing that stood out to me the most is the sob story about how Ortiz’s parents abandoned him. Sure it’s an awful thing to be abandoned by anyone, but after 20 years, you should be over it. Not mention it every time people ask you about them. My mother didn’t raise me and we’ve had some serious ups and downs all throughout my life (she’s a big part of the reason why I ended up in Georgia), but I never once used that as a crutch or made myself a victim. I take every experience I’ve had with her and flipped it into something good. Ortiz uses it as a sob story to win fans.
I normally don’t bet on sports, but I should have made a few bets on Mayweather. Solely because he trains harder, he’s faster and has a stronger heart. I believe people with that type of will & determination are the strongest fighters. Sometimes, muscles isn’t enough.
With football season being back, I probably will find myself more engulfed into Saturday night boxing. I don’t really like football, especially when my fiance yells at the tv (why do they do that?). I did come across this website where you can place bets on NFL games and earn some extra cash on the side. I’ll be sure to tell him about it due to the fact he watches football at least 3 times a week. That’s about 12 hours of me dealing with the random outbursts when the opposing team makes a touchdown. I can’t wait?
